Sited in a transitional neighborhood between NC State University’s campus and Raleigh’s Village District, 29 Enterprise is a 31-unit condominium urban infill project. The structure includes subgrade parking and a rooftop deck with views toward the downtown skyline.
The building is conceived as a singular mass, articulated through a combination of subtractive and additive operations. Street-level porches, pedestrian entries, and vehicular access points are carved from the main volume, introducing depth and allowing for varied material treatment within recessed areas. Vertical circulation elements and two-story mezzanine units are expressed as discrete insertions that extend beyond the primary envelope and roofline, creating legible moments of sectional complexity and bringing daylight into the interior.
Good Work provided site planning assistance and served as the design architect, architect of record, and interior designer. Through strategic use of allowable exemptions, we developed a design that fits five levels of building into a three-story zoning envelope—resulting in a 15% increase in buildable units over the original target.
