The design for this vacation cabin located in Blowing Rock, North Carolina seeks to minimize its impact to the landscape. A steel-framed vaulted living area fills the space with daylight, while a generous covered porch minimizes solar gain in summer months. The shed roof collects rainwater to minimize erosion of the existing mountainside. Off-the-shelf materials were utilized to minimize construction costs without compromising the overall integrity of the design.
